Two inspirational women with lived experience of homelessness have successfully led a team of 15 clients and staff to climb Mount Snowdon in aid of St Mungo’s, raising £38,000 for the charity’s work.
Mandy and Claire have both overcome homelessness and planned every aspect of the challenge.
Claire and Mandy said: “We had no support system before St Mungo’s, now we have support and security. We want to give something back to St Mungo’s who saved our lives.
“We want to give others the same chance by raising funds and awareness. We’re dedicating our walk to those who’ve sadly died while sleeping rough. We know that could easily have been us. The challenge represents how we conquered homelessness and how much belief we have in ourselves.”
The pair have also set up a walking group as part of St Mungo’s Recovery College to help train for the climb and involve others.
